Polokwane
Formerly known as Pietersburg, Polokwane is located in the centre of Limpopo Province, 250km north east of Pretoria, and is surrounded by three of South Africa’s neighbours: Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
There are many wildlife viewing opportunities for 2010 World Cup Ticket holders, making Polokwane a popular ecotourism destination in Southern Africa. Polokwane is situated mid-way between the mid section of the Kruger Park, 150 kilometers to the east, and the game parks of the Waterberg Mountain range 100 kilometers to the southwest. Both park areas are home to the “Big 5” animals – lions, elephants, Black rhinos, leopards and Cape buffaloes.
For World Cup games in Polokwane, it is advisable to stay in the Polokwane area. It is not close enough to drive from any other soccer cities for games.
