Loftus Versfeld Stadium
Location: Tshwane/Pretoria, GautengLoftus Versfeld Stadium is one of the oldest rugby union and football stadiums in South Africa (host to major sporting evens since 1903). The stadium was named after Robert Owen Loftus Versfeld, the founder of organized sports in Pretoria. Loftus Versfeld Stadium has undergone numerous upgrades and has increased its seating capacity from 2,000 spectators to approximately 50,000 today.
Pretoria is conveniently situated for use as a northern accommodation centre for World Cup matches due to it’s proximity to Polokwane (250 km), Rustenberg (120 km) and Johannesburg, (58 km along a highway), it also feels safer here than in a huge city.
