Team Profile
Not since 1966 has Korea DPR, or North Korea (the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) had a decent finish in World Cup. No East Asian team ha a better showing in the world but until South Korea made it to the semi-finals in the 2002 World Cup. World Cup 2010 in Soth Africa is North Korea’s first appearance in 36 years, a drought which lasted since World Cup 1966 in England (which was also their first World Cup appearance).
The qualifying round in 2005 showed to be very disappointing for North Korea, as they were knocked out after a single win and loosing five straight.
North Korea has its biggest chance for success during the World Cup 2010 South Africa lying with its goal tender Ri Myong-Guk who had six shutouts during the 3rd quarter qualifying rounds.
