The CFL Grey Cup
The 2012 CFL Grey Cup celebrates its 100th anniversary this year on November 25, 2012, and returns to the city that hosted the very first Grey Cup championship: Toronto, Ontario. The Grey Cup is Canada’s largest annual sporting event and most watched sports broadcast drawing about 6 million viewers a year. The near-week long festival leading up to the Grey Cup match will have something for everyone! There will be football experiences, street parties, live bands and family friendly zones.
Over 46 Grey Cup championships have been held in Toronto and this year’s anniversary will be sure top them all. The Grey Cup will be held at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, a city staple for shows, concerts, and sporting events. The stadium can seat over 50,000 fans – so it will definitely be an event to remember!
Toronto is Canada’s largest and most cosmopolitan city. When you’re not keeping track of the game, a walk along the waterfront leads to beaches, marinas, parks and bike trails. For the finest shopping head to Yorkville or the PATH, the city’s underground shopping mall. You can also visit the CN Tower and stand inside the pod for a breathtaking 360 degree view view of the city. See the historic side of Toronto by checking out the St. Lawrence Market and the Distillery District.
