CapeTown’s Fish and Chips
Another very popular thing to eat in Cape Town is Fish and Chips. There is not an area in Cape Town that does not have at least 2 fish and chips place.
Snoek (said like Snook) is one of the most popular fish found in the cape water and is caught daily by local fisherman. There is a variety of ways you can enjoy it but the most common is having it deep fried in a batter with chips.
Some of the other fish you will find on the menu is yellow tail, king clip and a variety of line fish that is caught fresh on a daily basis.
Most of the fish and chips take aways do not have seating so it is a good idea to do it as the locals do and head for the nearest park, beach or bench and enjoy…
Like I mentioned you will find a fish and chips place everywhere in Cape Town but if you feel a bit
lost feel free to ask any of the Capetonian where the best Fish and chips is and they may even take you there…
But the best way to have Snoek is to have a Snoek braai / BBQ but for that you really need to get someone local to cook it for you. You will not find it in a take away you will have to be resourceful and get invited to a Snoek Braai.
