We understand that security is a very important part of hosting successfully.  With that in mind, we’ve included some helpful tips so you can get the most out of your hosting experience and help us build a strong online community. We’ve also received some great media coverage in the last few months – it’s an exciting time to be a part of the short term rental business!

For those of you thinking of becoming a host by renting out some extra space, here are some outlines that we have in place to keep the host community vibrant and thriving!

1. Online Messaging System: To keep conversations going, we monitor all of the transactions that happen on our site. We recommend that you chat to your Guest before making a booking – just to get a feel for who your future guest is. This can help you understand where they’re coming from – and why they’re traveling so that you can help with their needs. If conversations are asked to be had outside of our system, we flag it. Of course, you have the right to refuse a booking if it’s not fit for you at the time. Also, make sure to  ask questions –  If a guest does not have a bio, don’t be afraid to ask for their driver’s license, or other government-issued identification document.  After all, if a guest is serious about staying with you, they won’t have an issue with providing you their identification.

2. Reviews: Our review system is very important to the community – both to Hosts and Guests! Future guests rely on reviews and feedback when looking for accommodation. Likewise, we encourage Hosts to review their Guests after a stay! This helps keep everyone in the know and builds a strong community . After a stay is completed, you can quickly write up a review – just visit your dashboard and review away! If it’s easier for you – you can quickly type up a few lines and send them to me, Savannah@istopover.com and I can post it for you. We really value the reviews!
