Hey everyone!
As you might know, the New York City Marathon is coming up oh-so-soon on Sunday, November 6th! This is a huge event in NYC, are we’re so happy to support all of the runners and cheerers in a number of ways. The running community is so strong – we love it! If you’re heading to New York City to run or cheer – we want to make sure you save on accommodation! You can use the code NYCM when booking to save 60% off your service fee!
Also, we have a pretty awesome contest going on – head on over to our Facebook page and tell us why you’re running in the marathon or who you’re going to cheer for and you could WIN $500 in NYC accommodation from iStopOver! Sweet! Make sure you enter today and spread the word.
We recently chatted with a Certified iStopOver Host, Jeffrey, who not only has a great place in NYC to stay – but he’s also running in the New York City Marathon!
1. We hear your accommodation is free for the weekend of the New York City Marathon! Where in NYC is your listing located? Is it close to the marathon route?
Yep, my apartment is definitely AVAILABLE for marathon weekend. I’m on 8th avenue and 14th street, right on the border of the West Village, Chelsea, and Meat Packing District. I’m also half a block from the ACE trains, which take you right down to the ferry station, which takes runners to the marathon starting area in Staten Island. I’ve run the marathon while living in my apartment, and it’s seriously easy getting to the starting lin in the morning.
2. How many people can your listing accommodate?
My place can accomodate up to 5 people. That’s with two in my comfy queen size bed, one on the futon-couch, and two on my nifty double-high air mattress.
3. What kind of traveler would be best suited for your listing?
A RUNNER, of course! Someone who loves to run and will have a blast both running the marathon, as well as having ultra easy access to the beautiful new west side running pathway, which is 3 blocks from my apartment. Also someone who enjoys checking out amazing sunsets on the NYC Highline park, which is 2 blocks away. And somebody who likes to DANCE, since the trendy clubs of the meat packing district are 1 block away.
4. What amenities does your place offer? Wifi? Full use of the kitchen? Close to the subway?
Half a block to the subway – ACEFML lines. Ultra mega fast Wifi, the absolute fastest available to consumers in Manhattan. Costs an arm and a let for me to have it, but worth it to have near instant web browsing. Full kitchen, with a range and oven, microwave, toaster oven, fridge, etc. Clean shower with unlimited hot water and high flow showerhead.
5. So you’re a runner as well! Will you be participating in this year’s NYC Marathon?
Yeah of course, the marathon rocks. I’ll definitely be running it this year!
6. What are your running tips for those who are training for the marathon?
PACE yourself with a pace bracelet you can get from the registration expo. And pee right before the race. Also, get a disposable warm up suit at the expo – you can wear it to the starting line, and rip it off right before starting the run. Don’t run with headphones – too much excitement will be happening around you. And if you write your name on your chest, people will scream words of encouragement to you!
You can check out Jeffrey’s NYC listing here and if you’re heading to NYC to either run the Marathon or cheer someone on – we’ve got great short term rentals in new york that suits every budget!
Good luck to all of the runners and cheerers, we know that it’s a tough road of training!
Cheers,
Savannah
